LIFE HACKS

1.To remove labels from stain less steel vessels expose the label to har drier for few minutes it will easily peel off due to the heat.

If there is excess gum put few drops of oil and wipe it with a cloth it will get removed easily.

2.To store snake guord in fridge for longer time remove seeds and cut into pieces and store in boxes .It will stay fresher for longer period of time.

3.Small children may scribble with sketch pens or color pencils on walls.To remove it use toothpaste and wipe it with a cloth.

TOMATO THOKU/THAKALI THOKU

An easy side dish for idli, dosa and chappathi.

Ingredients:

Tomato……..4 to 6

Onion……..2

Curry leaves few

Garlic few pods

Seasoning

Oil

Turmeric powder….1 tsp

Chilli powder……..1 to 2tsp accdg to taste

1.In a kadai put oil.

2.Add seasonings then Curry leaves,onion and garlic and fry a little.

3.Now add chopped tomatoes to it.

4.Now add turmeric powder,chilly powder and required salt.

Keep stirring in between till tomato becomes mushy and it leaves the sides of the pan.

KERALA STYLE BANANA STEM THORAN/VAZHATHANDU THORAN

Very healthy dish.

Ingredients

Banana stem chopped…….1cup

Boiled green gram dhal….1/2 cup

Coconut scrapings……1/4 cup

Cumin seeds……1 TBS
Curry leaves…..few

Garlic pods….4 or 5

Turmeric powder…..1tsp

Green chillies…..2

Coconut oil for seasoning

Salt as required

Mustard seeds

Method

Take a piece of banana stem.

Cut into small rounds.

Use a finger to remove the fibre.

Then in a bowl add1 TBS curd and little salt and put the chopped banana stem in that.

Grind coconut scrapings cumin seeds,green chillies,garlic pods,turmeric powder without water

In a kadai add coconut oil then add mustard seeds when it splitters add curry leaves.

Now add the chopped banana stem then add the grounded mixture and cover and cook.

After few minutes add the cooked green gram dhal and required amount of salt.

Mix well and cook for few minutes.

Serve with rice .

RAW BANANA PORIAL/VAZHAKAI PORIAL

This is a different style of PORIAL.

Cut raw banana into small pieces.

Ingredients

Coconut scrapings…..3 tbs

Red chillies……4 or 5 accdg to taste

Turmeric powder…1 tsp

Cumin seeds……1/2 tsp

Oil…..2 tbs

Urad dhal…..1/2 tsp

Mustard seeds….1/4 tsp

Hing…..1/2 tsp

Salt as needed

Method:

1. Boil raw banana with salt and turmeric for free minutes.Dont cook for longer time as it will become soggy.

2.Grind coconut scrapings with red chillies and cumin seeds without adding water.

3. In a kadai put some oil add seasonings ,hing and grounded paste.

4. Fry for few minutes.

5. Now add the boiled VAZHAKAI and check for salt.

6. Mix well and leave for few minutes.

Serve with rice as a side dish.

1.While grating carrot,beetroot apply little oil on the grater it will be easy.
