Vazhapoo vada is very tasty and crispy delicacy. It is rich in fibre,VitA,vitB,Vit E Iron. And very good for uterus. This is also diabetic friendly food.
Ingredients:
Banana flower chopped….1 cup
Bengal gram….250gms
Red chillies…6 to 8 nos
Garlic….8 pods
Hinge 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves chopped…1 tbs
Fennel seeds….1 tbs
Salt as required.
Oil for frying.
Grind all these coarsely .
Clean banana flower.Remove brown color petals.From small flower bunch remove plastic like object then remove the head like portion too.Now put in chopper or put in pulse mode in mixi jar.
Rinse the Bengal gram dhal and soak with redchillies,garlic pods and drain the water.Grind it if needed add1 or 2 tbs of water.
Method
Now to the coarsely grinded batter add chopped onions, coriander leaves,curry leaves, salt and hinge.
Mix well.
In a kadai add oil and heat it.
When hot add a small bit of batter into oil. It should rise gradually. This is right.Fry vadas till golden brown and flip the other side and fry till golden brown.
Take a small portion and make it as a ball. Then press as vadas.
It will be crispy and very tasty. Can serve with chutney or sauce.

Cut raw banana into small pieces.
Coconut scrapings…..3 tbs
Red chillies……4 or 5 accdg to taste
Turmeric powder…1 tsp
Cumin seeds……1/2 tsp
Oil…..2 tbs
Urad dhal…..1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds….1/4 tsp
Hing…..1/2 tsp
Salt as needed
Method:
1. Boil raw banana with salt and turmeric for free minutes.Dont cook for longer time as it will become soggy.
2.Grind coconut scrapings with red chillies and cumin seeds without adding water.
3. In a kadai put some oil add seasonings ,hing and grounded paste.
4. Fry for few minutes.
5. Now add the boiled VAZHAKAI and check for salt.
6. Mix well and leave for few minutes.
Serve with rice as a side dish.
Many dishes are prepared with potato This recipe is very easy to prepare.Can be had with rice also can be served with appam or chappathi too.
Ingredients
Potatoes …..2
Onion……..1/2
Garlic cloves…..4
Turmeric powder…1/2 TSP
Curry leaves….few
Coriander powder.. 3/4 TSP
Garam masala…..1/2 TSP
Chilli powder….accdgly to taste 1/2 to 1 TSP
The first step in a pressure pan add all the above ingredients with little water and keep it for 2 whistles.
Ingredients for gravy
Coconut oil….2 TBS
Mustard seeds….1/2 TSP
Curry leaves a few
Turmeric powder…1/2 TSP
Chilli powder….1 TSP
Coriander powder…1 to 11/2 TSP
Kashmiri chilli powder…1/2 TSP
Garam masala…..1 TSP
Method
In a pan heat coconut oil.
Then add all the powder one by one and fry a little. When the aroma comes add the cooked potatoes and salt.Mix well and cook for one-time.
An mash a few pieces of potato es and then add it to the curry.
Can garnish with coriander leaves.
Servethis with rice or with appam or roti.
There are different recipes with ladies finger. This curry is prepared with coconut milk.
Ingredients:
Extract milk from coconut twice.
Keep them separate.
Method
Potato capsicum curry is a curry which has a nutty flavour.In this recipe groundnut,poppy seeds and til are roasted and grinded. It has nutty flavour with crunchy capsicum and softly cooked potatoes.
Ingredients
For grinding masala.
Saunf……1 tsp
Poppy seeds…..1 TSP
Til……1 TSP
Groundnut….3 TBS
Onion ……1 finely chopped
Garlic…..few cloves
Ginger…..a small piece
Coconut scrapings…1/4 cup
Oil…2 TBS
In a kadai add oil add til,poppy seeds, ground nut fry a little and then add all the other ingredients.
When cool grind it into a fine paste.
Keep aside.
For gravy.
Ingredients
Onion…….2 finely chopped
Tomato ….2 chopped
Capsicum chopped…1 to 1 1/2 cups
Potatoes…….boiled 2
Oil as required
Salt
Method
Put oil in a kadai add 1/2 tsp saying then chopped onions when it gets sauted add tomatoes.
Sauted tomatoes and when sauted add capsicum when half done add potato and salt add little water till it blends well .
Now added grinded masala.if you want spicy add red chilli powder if needed.
Finally add chopped coriander leaves
Serve as side dish for chappathi or roti
