PINEAPPLE KESARI

Earlier I had posted Rawa Kesari I had few pieces of pineapple so thought of trying Pineapple Kesari.This is an easy preparation only.

Ingredients

  • Rawa…..1 cup
  • Sugar…..1/2 to 1 cup
  • Pineapple…. 1cup cut into small pieces.
  • Cardomom….3 to 4 nos
  • Cashews…….few
  • Kismis……few
  • Ghee……..2 to 3 Tbs
  • Color few drops
  • Pineapple essence 1/2 tsp it is optional.

Method

  1. In a kadai add ghee. Fry cashews and kismis keep aside.
  2. Now add Rawa and fry till aroma comes.
  3. In the mean time boil 21/2 cups of water.
  4. Add water to the Rawa.
  5. Add pineapple pieces.
  6. Mix well till it cooks.
  7. Now add Color,elaichi powder and if u need add pineapple essence.
  8. Add sugar and cook till it is cooked.
  9. Finally add fried cashews and kismis.

1. Frying rawa in ghee2.Add boiling waterAdd pineapple pieces and then finally sugar..

BREAD HALWA

Bread halwa can be easily prepared when compared with other types of halwa.This recipe can convert a boring food a bread into an interesting sweet.

Ingredients

  • Bread……6 slices
  • Milk…….2 cups
  • Cashews……1/4 cups
  • Sugar……1/2 to 3/4 cups
  • Ghee……1/2 cup

Method

  1. Remove edges from the sides of the bread and cut into small pieces.(some use the brown edges too)
  2. Pour ghee in a kadai and first fry cashews in it.keep aside few for garnishing and the rest powder it
  3. In the remaining ghee add bread pieces and fry
  4. When it is fried add milk to it.Allow it to cook.
  5. Then add the powdered cashews and sugar to the mixture.
  6. When it leaves the sides of the pan add fried cashews and then remove it.

Never reduce the quantity of ghee otherwise it will be sticky.

Can add badam also instead of cashews.

My happiness knew no bounds when I got the message of 1 yr.Anniversary Achievement by WordPress.So I  decided to celebrate this occasion by sharing a sweet receipe
I take this opportunity to thank my fellow bloggers,friends and family members for the support extended to me.
This is a simple recipe

Ingredients

*Rawa- 1cup
*Kesari Powder 2 pinches
*Water_3cups
*Sugar_1 to 11/2 cups
*Ghee 4 tbs.
*Cashews_ a few
METHOD

1.Fry the cashews in one tbs. Gheeand keep aside.
2.Fry the rava golden brown.
3.Take 3 cups  of water and boil it.Add kesari powder to it.

4.To the fried rawa add the boiling water slowly with one hand and keep on stirring with the other hand.See that no lumps are formed.
5.When the rawa is cooked add sugarpp.
6.mix well and keep on stirring.
7.Add ghee to the mixture
8.The mixture will leave the sides of the
Vessel add fried cashews and cardomom powder.
9.Put  in greased plate.can cut into desired shape or serve in a bowl.
Tips
1.Can add pineapple essence to it.
2.Add sugar only after rawa iscooked
3.Can refrigerate for 1 or2 days.
4.When you reheat it add little ghee to it.

POORIPAYASAM/FRIED PUFFED FLAT BREAD PAYASAM

IMG_3506Payasam is a desert liked by most people.Different ingredients are used for different payasam. Here the main ingredient is Poori.Today I thought of sharing poori payasam with you.This has a unique taste.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Maida/All purpose flour : 1/4 cup
  • Milk:1/2 to 3/4 litre
  • Sugar:1/2 cup(accdg to desired taste)
  • Salt a pinch
  • Ghee or Oil for frying
  • Cardomom powder:1/4 to 1/2 tsp

cashews and raisins optional

METHOD:

1.Add water and a pinch of salt to maida and make a dough.Keep aside for some time.

2.Knead the dough again for few minutes to make it smooth and pliable.

3.Divide into balls.

4.Roll each ball into a thin round.

5.Cut small round ones   from the bigger one using a small cap or a round cutter.

6.Heat oil/ ghee in a kadai  and fry small pooris in batches.

7.Keep aside the fried pooris.

8.Now take a thick bottomed vessel and milk to it and boil.

9.Simmer till it gets thickened atleast to 3/4th quantity

10.Add sugar to it.Stir well.

11.Add cardomom powder to it.

12.Now add 3 or 4 tbs condensed milk.(If you add more reduce the quantity of sugar)

13.To the mixture add the fried pooris to it and allow it to cook for 5 to 7 mts.

Then remove from fire .Serve hot or cold.

Points to remember:

  • If pooris are fried in ghee it will enhance its taste.
  • If there is less time to make small round pooris then make bigger ones and cut into small ones.
  • When poori payasam cools it will become thick.
  • Frying cashews and raisins is optional.
  • When you have payasam one should get poori pieces while chewing.

Left over pooris too can be used for this.
